Each player is dealt two (Pocket) cards (Kept hidden from the other players),
In the first round of betting before the flop, the person to the left of the
Big Blind (Third person from the dealers' left) is the first to act. (Call
the blind, Fold, or Raise the bet.) Once the betting has gone around to the
Big Blind, there are three
upturned "community" cards dealt on the table. This is known as the
"flop". Players bet, check, raise, or fold their hand, depending on
what they have or think the other players have. After all players
have their turn, another community card is dealt up on the table.
This is the "Turn" card. Another round of betting, checking,
raising, and folding, and the "River" card is dealt up on the table.
This is the fifth and final card. If all but one player folds their
hand before this, the remaining player wins the pot. If there are
two or more players remaining after the final round, there is a
"Showdown", where the players show their cards, and the best hand
wins.

Texas Hold'Em is a very easy game to learn, difficult to master. It can be played with 2-10 players, at a single table. Betting begins with the two players left of the dealer (or Dealer button) who place an initial bet called the Blind. The Blind amount varies on the stakes of the game. The first person puts half a blind to begin with, and is the first person to act after the flop.
A hand consists of the two "pocket" cards a player holds, and the three best community cards. If the 5 community cards equal a 5 card hand (i.e., Straight or Flush), then all players share that hand, and the player holding the highest cards will win. (Player 1 holds "pocket aces" - *A pair of aces* and Player 2 holds AK, with a Straight on the board, Player 1 will win the hand.) - This is known as "Playing the board". Let me sum up how to become a winning poker player... Patience. Position. Hand Selection. Play the Players. Know when to fold them.
